Website Migration Agreement
This terms apply to all users of Hostragon website migration service. It exists to protect both you and us. Please read these Terms carefully before using the service.
This Migration Terms and Condition apply to both paid and bundled migrations and are supplemental to Hostragon General Term and Conditions.
The request that Hostragon carry out a migration constitutes acceptance of these Managed Migration Terms and Conditions and Hostragon General Terms and Conditions.
Our realistic turnaround time guarantee for a migration is 48-72 hours from the date and time we send you a confirmatory e-mail stating that the migration process has started. We can only begin the process after:
- you have provided us with all requested login information to the source server and
- our migration team has verified that we have gained access to the source server we are migrating from.
The quoted turnaround time is dependent on your active participation and timely replies to our emails.
We ask that you reply to any of our e-mails within 12 hours to fully take advantage of our turnaround time guarantee we are providing.
Once this is done, a support ticket will be raised automatically and Hostragon will endeavor to respond to this within 1 working day with a suggested migration date/time.
If we don't receive a reply from you within 12 hours, then the migration process is "paused” and the quoted turnaround time is no longer applicable .
The customer accepts and understands that Hostragon can only move websites from source server:
- that runs cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, or Ensim on a Linux operating system.
- that runs CentOS 7/8, CloudLinux™ 7/8, or Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL) 7/8.
The migration service is the movement of the customer’s files and databases from their existing host to the Hostragon platform.
Sensitive data shared with Hostragon during the migration of your website will be held in compliance with all data protection legislation.
The storage on Hostragon web servers is designed specifically for hosting sites - and not designed to be used as a long-term as a backup or storage solution. Please ensure that the data we migrate meets these requirements, and remove all backup files before providing us with your credentials. We filter some backup files if we can identify them, but we may not exclude all of them (it is usually enough to just move the files one or more levels up in the directory structure on your current host, allowing us to identify and exclude them).
Hostragon is not responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever arising from a website migration.
Before requesting a migration, it is recommended that customer take a full backup of their website data and files.
The customer accepts and understands that Hostragon may not be able to migrate email, domain registration or custom DNS records. Hostragon will attempt to migrate all databases we believe are necessary for the operation of your website but it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that any website functions correctly post-migration.
Hostragon will not migrate an SSL certificate from the customer’s current provider. Our systems install a new domain validated SSL certificate for every account that we host. If an OV or EV certificate is required for any migrated websites, then a new one will have to be purchased via Hostragon.
Once a migration is completed, customers must check that the content has been transferred successfully before canceling any third-party hosting package. Customers are solely responsible for the decision to terminate any hosting provided by a third-party and Hostragon accepts no responsibility for loss of data.
Hostragon will not debug technical issues with a customer’s website, scripts or databases, whether or not the customer believe these to have arisen due to the migration. Hostragon will endeavor to migrate the customer’s website within 3 working days but the customer accepts this may not be possible during busy periods or due to unforeseen technical issues.
If your DNS is not hosted with Hostragon, then it is solely the customer’s responsibility to update your DNS records during the migration window.
Migration Refund Terms
The one-time charge for migrations is not refundable once the process has started. You may be eligible for a refund if our team, due to our own internal delays, takes longer than the quoted time period to complete the migration. We'll also refund the charge if you cancel before we've sent out the confirmatory email indicating the start of the migration process.
The following situations will cause you to forfeit your right to a refund:
- Failing to respond to our information requests and emails for more than 12 hours if we’ve already started the migration process
- Interference with the migration process, or taking over the migration process yourself
- Asking us to cancel the migration process after we've sent you the confirmatory email that signals the start of the migration process
- A hacked site requiring us to pause and clean up before proceeding
